Abstract

Preseptal and orbital cellulitis are severe childhood infections. The predisposing reason may be sinusitis, as in our case. Nonresponse to treatment may cause complications such as orbital abscess. The orbital abscess secondary to ethmoidal sinusitis was detect- ed in a ten month old baby. Here we present the patient who was succesfully treated with medical therapy without surgical intervention.

Preseptal ve orbital sellülit çocukluk çağının ciddi enfeksiyonları arasında olup, olgumuzda olduğu gibi predispozan neden olarak sinüzit saptanabilir. Tedaviye yanıtsızlık durumunda orbital apse komplikasyon ola- rak gelişebilir. On aylık bebekte orbital apsenin etmoi- dal sinüzite sekonder olarak oluştuğu saptandı. Burada cerrahi tedaviye gerek duyulmadan tıbbi tedavi ile başarı ile tedavi edilen hasta sunuldu.
