Abstract
Perinatal cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection was diagnosed in a 3-month-old male patient who was admitted with generalized petechiae on his body and diagnosed as perinatal cytomegalovirus infection with positivite cytomegalovirus specific IgM antibody and thrombocytopenia. He was given supportive therapy and additional intravenous immune globulin 400 mg/kg/day for five days. His thrombocytes began to increase on the 5th day of therapy and complete recovery was seen on the 10th day of the treatment. This interesting case was reported because CMV infection presented without systemic manifestations and with only thrombocytopenia.
