A Comparison of Population Trends of Turkey and EU Member States

Abstract

Many predictions are made when evaluating the future of countries. Demographic estimates are the most easily and accurately determined. Serious demographic problems arise in countries and societies that do not develop population policy by making sufficient use of demographic science. The burden on the social security system, the pressure of the dependent population on the working population and the imbalance of supply and demand of the labor force are examples of these problems. In this study, Turkey’s EU membership process will be discussed the issue of what are the benefits of populatin structure. In addition, the effects of changes in population structure on social and economic life will be discussed.

Ülkelerin geleceği ile ilgili değerlendirmelerde bulunurken birçok tahmin yapılmaktadır. Bu tahminler arasında en kolaylıkla ve isabetle belirlenenler demografik tahminlerdir. Demografi biliminden yeterince faydalanarak nüfus politikası geliştirmeyen ülke ve toplumların ciddi demografik sorunları oluşmaktadır. Sosyal güvenlik sistemine getirdiği yük, çalışan nüfus üzerinde bağımlı nüfusun baskısı ve işgücü arz-talep dengesizliği bu sorunlara örnek olarak sayılabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'nin AB'ye üyelik sürecinde nüfus yapısının ne gibi avantajlar sağladığı konusuna değinilecektir. Ayrıca nüfus yapısındaki değişimin sosyal ve ekonomik hayata etkilerinden bahsedilecektir.
