Teachers' Opinions about Tablet PC's

Abstract

Parallel to the developments all around the world, considerable efforts are being made in order to create more effective and rich learning approaches by utilizing contemporary instructional technologies in Turkey. Accordingly, FATİH Project has been given a start to ensure the equality of opportunity in education and to improve technology in schools by the Ministry of National Education. Pilot studies are implemented at 52 schools (preschool, primary and secondary education); 12800 tablet computers are distributed to students and teachers within the scope of the project. It was intended to explore teachers' opinions about tablet computers before the project is being implemented at a larger scale. For this reason, primary school teachers' opinions from three different cities were gathered by using open ended questions in this study. All teachers were observed to have similar views on the advantages and disadvantages of the tablet computers. Also, it is revealed that teachers don't have a comprehensive understanding of the project, due to the fact that they were not provided with the necessary information

Özet

Tüm dünyadaki gelişmelere paralel olarak, Türkiye'de çağdaş öğretim teknolojileri kullanarak daha etkin ve zengin öğrenme yaklaşımları oluşturmak için önemli çabalar sarf edilmektedir. Bu bağlamda, eğitimde fırsat eşitliği sağlamak ve okullarda teknolojiyi geliştirmek için Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından FATİH Projesi başlatılmıştır. Pilot çalışmalar 52 okulda (okul öncesi, ilköğretim ve ortaöğretim) uygulanmaktadır; Proje kapsamında 12800 tablet bilgisayarlar öğrencilere ve öğretmenlere dağıtılmıştır. Çok sayıda öğretmen ve öğrenciyi ilgilendiren projenin ülkeye yayılmasından önce, tablet bilgisayarlar hakkında öğretmenlerin görüşlerini belirlemenin PC'lerin yaygınlaştırılması öncesinde alana katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmüştür. Bu nedenle, bu çalışmada üç farklı şehirden ilkokul öğretmenlerinin görüşleri açık uçlu sorular sorularak alınmıştır. Tüm öğretmenlerin tablet bilgisayarların avantajları ve dezavantajları konusunda benzer görüşlere sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Ayrıca, öğretmenlere herhangi bir bilgilendirme toplantısı yapılmadığından, öğretmenlerin projeye ilişkin kapsamlı bir görüşe sahip olmadıkları görülmüştür
