Evaluation of Anterior Segment Morphology after Nd: YAG Laser Capsulotomy in Patients With Posterior Capsule Opacifi cation

Abstract

Purpose: The evaluation of anterior segment morphology using Pentacam Scheimpfl ug camera (Oculus, Germany) after Nd: YAG laser capsulotomy in patients with posterior capsule opacifi cation Materials and Methods: Sixty-seven eyes of 67 patients performed Nd: YAG laser capsulotomy were recruited into our study. The changes of anterior chamber depth (ACD), anterior chamber volume (ACV), anterior chamber angle (ACA), central corneal thickness (CCT), and corneal volume (CV) were evaluated using Pentacam Scheimpfl ug camera before laser capsulotomy and after laser capsulotomy in the 1st week, 1st month, 3rd month and 6th month. The results were compared statistically. Results: The ACD and ACV values were signifi cantly decreased in the 1st week when compared the values of prior to laser capsulotomy (p<0.05). However, the ACD and ACV values were not statistically different in the 1st month, 3rd month, and 6th month when compared the values of prior to laser capsulotomy. Similarly the ACA, CCT and CV values were not statistically different in any period when compared before the values of prior to laser capsulotomy.Conclusion: Our study reveal that laser capsulotomy does not affect the anterior segment parameters in the long term in spite of reduction in the ACD and ACV values in the 1st week.

Amaç: Arka kapsül kesafeti bulunan olgularda Nd: YAG lazer kapsülotomi sonrası ön segment morfolojisinin Pentacam Scheimpfl ug kamera (Oculus, Germany) ile değerlendirilmesi. Gereç ve Yöntem: Nd: YAG lazer kapsülotomi yapılan 67 olgunun 67 gözü çalışmaya alındı. Pentacam Scheimpfl ug kamera ile hastaların lazer öncesi ile lazer sonrası 1'inci hafta, 1'inci ay, 3'üncü ay ve 6'ıncı ayda ön kamara derinliği (ÖKD), ön kamara hacmi (ÖKH), ön kamara açısı (ÖKA), santral kornea kalınlığı (SKK) ve korneal volüm (KV) değişimleri değerlendirildi. Sonuçlar istatistiksel olarak karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: ÖKD ve ÖKH değerlerinde lazer öncesine göre 1'inci haftada anlamlı bir azalma izlendi (p<0,05). Ancak ÖKD ve ÖKH değerlerinde lazer sonrası 1'inci ay, 3'üncü ay ve 6'ıncı ayda lazer öncesine göre herhangi bir istatistiksel farklılık izlenmedi. Yine ÖKA, SKK ve KV değerlerinde lazer öncesine göre hiçbir dönemde istatistiksel olarak farklılık izlenmedi.Sonuç: Lazer kapsülotomi işlemi 1'inci haftada ÖKD ve ÖKH'ni azaltsa da, uzun dönemde Nd: YAG lazer kapsülotominin ön segment parametrelerini etkilemediği tespit edilmiştir.
