Attitudes of Young Adults Towards Marriage and Family Life

Abstract

This study has been carried out to determine attitudes toward marriage and family life of the university youth. Students who have studying at the Karabuk University constitute the universe of the study. Within the scope of the study, 931 students were included, selected using the “Stratified Random Sampling Method” from among the students studying at the University of Karabuk in 2010-2011 Academic Year Fall Term. Of the university students included in the research were 43.3% female (n=403) and 56.7% male students (n=528). Out of the students currently continuing their education, 26.9% were freshman, 31.8% sophomore, 6.0% junior, and 8.2% senior students. The ages of the students ranged between 17 and 27. Bu araştırma gençlerin evlilik ve aile yaşamına ilişkin tutumlarının, değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini belirlemeye yönelik olarak planlanmış ve yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın evrenini Karabük Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. 2010 – 2011 Öğretim Yılı Güz Döneminde Karabük Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 931 öğrenci “Tabakalı Rasgele Örnekleme Yöntemi” ile araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Örneklemi oluşturan toplam 931 öğrencinin %43.3’ünü (n=403) kız, %56.7’sini (n=528) erkek öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Öğrenimleri devam eden öğrencilerin %26.9’u hazırlık, %27.2’si birinci, %31.8’i ikinci, %6.0’sı üçüncü, %8.2’si ise dördüncü sınıftadır. Öğrencilerin yaşları 17 ile 27 arasında değişmektedir.
