FROM CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY II TO THE EARLY YEARS OF THE REPUBLIC ORGANIZATIONAL AND INTELLECTUAL EVOLUTION OF TURKISH YOUTH

Abstract
Turkish youth, who had their first organizational experience with the New Ottomans Movement, has contributed significantly to Turkey’s modernization process with both their activities and the ideas. With the declaration of the Constitutional Monarchy II, young people who had the opportunity to organize on the legal ground for the first time, start with the student associations carried their organizational activities to the intellectual field in a short time. Thus, they constituted the infrastructure of the intellectual movements the affected not the Constitutional Period II but also the Armistice Period and the Republican Period. This mobility has been an influential factor in shaping the minds of young people who have a share in winning the War of Independence. It is also possible to see the traces of these movements in the intellectual infrastructure of young people who were the protector of the regime and revolutions during the Rebuplican Era. Therefore, it can ve said that there is a positive correlation between the organizational experience and the intellectual development of Turkish youth in the period from the Constitutional Monarchy Period II to the Republican Period. In this study, the intellectual development of Turkish youth in the Constitutional Period II, Armistice and Republican Era were discussed. Finally, it was tried to answer the dynamics in the organizational and intellectual development of Turkish youth by making use of archival documents, official publications, books related to the period and articles published in periodcals.

Yeni Osmanlılar Hareketi ile birlikte ilk örgütsel deneyimini yaşayan Türk gençliği, gerek faaliyetleri gerekse savunduğu fikirlerle Türkiye’nin modernleşme sürecine hatırı sayılır katkılar sunmuştur. II. Meşrutiyet’in ilanıyla birlikte ilk kez yasal zeminde örgütlenme fırsatı yakalayan gençler, öğrenci cemiyetleri ile başlayan örgütsel faaliyetlerini kısa sürede düşünsel alana taşımışlardır. Böylelikle yalnızca II. Meşrutiyet Dönemi’ni değil, Mütareke Dönemi’ni ve Cumhuriyet Dönemi’ni de etkileyen düşünsel hareketliliklerin altyapısını oluşturmuşlardır. Bu hareketlilik, Kurtuluş Savaşı’nın kazanılmasında pay sahibi olan gençlerin dimağlarının şekillenmesinde etkili bir faktör olmuştur. Ayrıca Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde rejimin ve devrimlerin koruyucusu olan gençlerin düşünsel altyapısında da bu hareketlerin izlerini görmek mümkündür. Dolayısıyla II. Meşrutiyet Dönemi’nden Cumhuriyet Dönemi’ne uzanan süreçte Türk gençliğinin örgütsel deneyimi ile düşünsel gelişimi arasında bir pozitif korelasyon durumundan söz edilebilir. Bu çalışmada II. Meşrutiyet, Mütareke ve Cumhuriyet Dönemlerinde Türk gençliğinin kurduğu örgütlere değinilerek, düşünsel gelişimi irdelenmiştir. Nihayetinde arşiv belgelerinden, resmi yayınlardan, döneme ilişkin kitaplar ile süreli yayınlarda çıkan makalelerden faydalanılarak Türk gençliğinin örgütsel ve düşünsel gelişimindeki dinamiklerin neler olduğuna cevap bulunmaya çalışılmıştır.
