Place of the Concept of Art and Art Themed Subjects Within the Social Studies Textbooks

Sosyal Bilgiler Ders Kitaplarında Sanat Kavramının ve Sanat İçerikli Konuların Yeri

Abstract

Textbooks are undoubtedly one of the most important teaching tools of the educational environments. The aim of this study is to reveal the concept of art and the ways in which themes with art content is included in the 4-5-6 and 7thgrade Social Studies textbooks prepared by taking into consideration the social studies curriculum. The document analysis method which is one of the qualitative research methods was used in the study. The study was conducted on the Social Studies textbooks used in the 4-5-6 and 7thgrades in public schools of the Ministry of Education in the 2019 and 2020 academic year. In the study, it was seen that the concept of “art” was recurrent at the 7thgrade level. The art of water marbling (the art of Ebru), Carpet Art and Tile Art were the most common themes of art. It was observed that the themes with art content were clear, simple and appropriate to the level of the students in terms of language and discourse. When the social studies textbooks (4-5-6-7thgrades), on the other hand, were evaluated in general, it was seen that the themes with art content were not given much attention in the schoolbooks and the subjects with art content were explicated in a superficial way. Some recommendations were offered in order to educate generations of more sensitive, conscious and talented young people in the future.

Ders kitapları, eğitim-öğretim ortamlarının şüphesiz en önemli ders araçlarından biridir. Bu çalışmanın amacıSosyal Bilgiler dersi öğretim programıdikkate alınarak hazırlanan 4-5-6 ve 7. sınıf SosyalBilgiler ders kitaplarında sanat kavramı ve sanat içerikli konularınyer verilme biçimleriniortaya koymaktır.Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılında MEB tarafından devlet okullarında okutulan 4-5-6 ve 7. sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitapları üzerinden yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada “sanat” kavramının kavram olarak en çok 7.sınıf düzeyinde tekrar edildiği görülmüştür. Sanat konusu ile ilgili en çok Ebru sanatı, Halı Sanatı, Çini sanatı konularına yer verilmiştir. Anlatılan sanat içerikli konuların dil ve anlatım açısından açık, sade ve öğrencilerin seviyelerine uygun bir düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür. Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitapları (4-5-6-7) genel olarak değerlendirildiğinde ise, kitaplarda sanat içerikli konulara çok fazla yer verilmediği, anlatılan sanat içerikli konuların ise yüzeysel bir şekilde anlatıldığı görülmüştür. Gelecekte daha duyarlı, bilinçli ve yetenekli genç nesillerin yetişebilmesi için bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
