Unemployment Anxiety and Hopelessness Towards Unemployment in University Students: A Research on Students of Dokuz Eylül University Vocational Health School

Üniversite Öğrencilerinde İşsizliğe Yönelik İşsizlik Kaygısı Ve Umutsuzluk: Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu Öğrencileri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Unemployment is seen as a major problem all over the world. Particularly, young unemployment is among the problems that countries need to solve. It is known that young people have experienced unemployment anxiety and hopelessness recently while they are studying at university. The aim of this study is to examine the unemployment anxiety and hopelessness of the students studying at the Vocational School of Health Services. In the study, survey method was used as a data collection tool. The survey consists of sections. The first part consists of demographic questions. In other parts of the survey, the hopelessness scale and unemployment anxiety scale were used. Five-point Likert-type rating scale was used in the survey. The data were analyzed with IBM SPSS V23. The study was completed with 213 participants studying at Dokuz Eylul University Health Services Vocational School. 71.8% of the participants are women and 28.2% are men. 76.1% of the participants are between the ages of 18-20 and 22.2% are between the ages of 21-23. The mean values section of the hopelessness scale differs according to the requesting part. Employment difficulties in the economy vary according to the average value partition. The environmental and social pressure average values section varies according to the demanding situation.

Özet

İşsizlik tüm dünyada büyük bir sorun olarak görülmektedir. Özellikle de genç işsizlik ülkelerin çözmesi gereken problemler arasında yer almaktadır. Son zamanlarda gençlerin üniversite eğitimini alırken yaşamaya başladıkları işsizlik kaygısı ve umutsuzluk yaşadıkları bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulunda okuyan öğrencilerin işsizlik kaygısı ve umutsuzluğu incelemektir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak anket yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Anket bölümlerden oluşmaktadır. İlk bölüm demografik sorulardan meydana gelmiştir. Anketin diğer bölümlerinde ise, umutsuzluk ölçeği ve işsizlik kaygısı ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ankette beşli Likert tipi derecelendirme ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veriler IBM SPSS V23 ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu’nda öğrenim gören ve 2019 yaz stajını Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Hastanesinde yapan 213 katılımcı ile araştırma tamamlanmıştır. Katılımcıların %71,8’i kadın ve %28,2’si erkektir. Katılımcıların %76,1’i 18-20 ve %22,2’si 21-23 yaş aralığındadır. Umutsuzluk ölçeği ortalama değerleri bölümü isteme durumuna göre farklılık göstermektedir. Ekonomideki istihdam zorlukları ortalama değerleri bölümü isteme durumuna göre farklılık göstermektedir. Çevresel ve sosyal baskı ortalama değerleri bölümü isteme durumuna göre farklılık göstermektedir.
