EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF COCHLEAR IMPLANT ON AUDITORY PERCEPTION TEST RESULTS IN INDIVIDUALS WITH HEARING LOSS

İŞİTME KAYIPLI BİREYLERDE KOKLEAR İMPLANTIN İŞİTSEL ALGI TEST SONUÇLARI ÜZERİNE ETKİSİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Objective: It is a retrospective analysis of the auditory perception test results performed in the preoperative and postoperative period of prelingual patients using cochlear implant. Materials and Methods: In the study, the auditory perception test results of the preoperative and postoperative files of the patients who had undergone cochlear implant in the 3rd step reference hospital between 2005-2015 were analyzed retrospectively. In our study, prelingual patients were evaluated. In addition, prelingual patients were examined in 4 subgroups according to the implantation age. Auditory perception test scores after cochlear implantation were compared with preoperative values and the effect of implantation age on auditory perception test scores was investigated. Results: There are 80 prelingual patients. Prelingual 80 patients were present. In all 80 patients included in the study, a statistically significant increase was observed in postoperative auditory perception test scores compared to preoperative scores (p 0.05). Conclusion: Improvement in auditory performance of all patients was observed with cochlear implant. In the prelingual group, as the age of implantation decreases, the development of auditory perception is more evident. In addition, it has been observed that the group that has passed 48 months can benefit from cochlear implantation with a very good educational evaluation.

Özet

Amaç: Koklear implant kullanan prelingual hastaların preoperatif ve postoperatif dönemde yapılan işitsel algı test sonuçlarının retrospektif olarak incelenmesidir. Yöntem ve Gereçler: Çalışmada, 3.basamak referans hastanesinde 2005-2015 tarihleri arasında koklear implant uygulanmış hastaların preoperatif ve postoperatif dönemdeki dosyalarından işitsel algı test sonuçları retrospektif olarak incelenmiştir. Çalışmamızda prelingual hastalar değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca prelingual hastalar implantasyon yaşına göre 4 alt grupta incelenmiştir. Hastaların koklear implantasyon sonrası işitsel algı test skorları preoperatif değerlerle karşılaştırılmış ve implantasyon yaşının işitsel algı test skorları üzerine olan etkisi araştırılmıştır. Bulgular: Prelingual 80 hasta mevcuttu. Çalışmaya dahil edilen 80 hastanın hepsinde postoperatif dönemde yapılan işitsel algı test skorları preoperatif dönemdeki skorlarına göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı artış gözlendi (p 0.05). Sonuç: Koklear implant ile tüm hastaların işitsel performanslarında iyileşme gözlenmiştir. Prelingual grupta, implantasyon yaşıküçüldükçe işitsel algı gelişimleri daha belirgindir. Ayrıca 48 ayı geçmiş olan grup da çok iyi bir eğitsel değerlendirmeyle koklear implantasyondan fayda sağlanabileceği görülmüştür.
