Effi cacy of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty in Open-Angle Glaucoma: 1 Year Results

Abstract

Purpose: To investigate the effi cacy and safety of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) in open-angle glaucoma patients. Materials and methods: The medical records of 120 eyes of 70 patients who had undergone SLT for open-angle glaucoma were anal- yzed retrospectively at the Department of Ophthalmology, Manisa Goverment Hospital. Results: Data were available for 120, 120, 109, 90, 73 eyes at 1 week, 1, 3, 6 months and 1 year, respectively. The intraocular pres- sure (IOP) signifi cantly decreased from baseline pre-operative values of 24.3±5.7, 24.3±5.7, 24.3±5.6, 24.2±5.8, 24.4±6.1 mmHg to 17.2±4.0, 16.9±3.6, 17.2±4.1, 17.4±4.6, 17.2±4.6 mmHg at 1 week, 1, 3, 6 months and 1 year, respectively (p 0.05). Only 1 (0.8%) patient experienced IOP spikes, 31 (25.8%) experienced transient anterior chamber infl amation, 7 (5.8%) experienced ocular pain occurred 1 hour after the laser. Conclusion: SLT is an effective and safe treatment modality in the patients with open angle glaucoma.

Amaç: Açık açılı glokomu olan hastalarda selektif laser trabeküloplasti (SLT) tedavisinin etkinlik ve güvenilirliğini araştırmak. Gereç ve Yöntem: Manisa Devlet Hastanesi Göz Hastalıkları Kliniği’nde açık açılı glokom nedeniyle SLT uygulanmış 70 hastanın 120 gözüne ait kayıtlar retrospektif olarak incelendi. Bulgular: Kayıtları mevcut göz sayısı 1. hafta, 1., 3., 6. ay ve 1. yıl sırasıyla 120, 120, 109, 90, 73 idi. SLT öncesi 1. hafta, 1., 3., 6. ay ve 1. yılda sırasıyla 24.3±5.7, 24.3±5.7, 24.3±5.6, 24.2±5.8, 24.4±6.1 mmHg olan ortalama göz içi basınç (GİB) değerleri SLT sonrası istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde 17.2±4.0, 16.9±3.6, 17.2±4.1, 17.4±4.6, 17.2±4.6 mmHg değerlerine düştü (p 0.05). Sadece 1 olguda (%0.8) erken GİB yüksekliği kaydedildi. SLT uygulandıktan 1 saat sonraki muayenede 31 (%25.8) olguda geçici, hafi f ön kamara reaksiyonu gözlendi, sadece 7 (%5.8) olgu oküler ağrı tarifl edi. Sonuç: SLT, açık açılı glokom hastalarının tedavisinde etkili ve güvenli bir yöntemdir.
