A cross-sectional analysis of students’ and ınstructors’ communication skills within the framework of gerbner’s communication model

Gerbner’in iletişim modeli çerçevesinde öğrencilerin ve öğretim elemanlarının iletişim becerilerinin değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

The research was conducted on 100 students studying at the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance, and 28 instuctors within the Faculty of Education, Near East University. The students’ and instructors’ communication skills were analyzed within the framework of Gerbner’s General Communication Model and it was investigated for the difference between their communicaiton skills. In addition, students’ and instructors’ communication skills were analyzed based on variables of gender and age which was over 30 and under 30. Statistical analyses were carried out using t‐test. Results show that, there is no significant difference between the communication skills of students and instructors. Furthermore, it was not found a significant difference between students’ and instructors’ communication skills based on the age and gender variables. Depend on these results, it could be said that there is no difference between students’ and instructors’ communication skills considering age and gender.

Özet

Araştırma Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesine bağlı Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışmanlık bölümünde öğrenim gören 100 öğrenci ve 28 öğretim elemanı üzerinde gerçeklendirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin ve öğretim elemanlarının iletişim becerileri Gerbner’in Genel İletişim Modeli temelinde incelenmiş ve iletişim becerileri arasında bir fark olup olmadığı araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca, öğrenci ve öğretmenlerin cinsiyet değişkeni temelinde ve yaşlarının 30 yaş üstü ve 30 yaş altı olma durumuna göre iletişim becerileri incelenmiştir. İstatistiksel araştırmalarda t‐testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgulara göre, öğrencilerin ve öğretim elemanlarının iletişim becerileri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmamaktadır. Ayrıca yaş ve cinsiyet değişkenleri göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, öğrenci ve öğretim elemanlarının iletişim becerileri arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Bu bulgulara dayanarak söyleyebiliriz ki, öğrenci ve öğretim elemanlarının iletişim becerileri yaş ve cinsiyete göre farklılık göstermemektedir.
