Abstract
Introduction and Aim: Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy is a method used for enteral feeding in case of regular functioning of gastrointestinal tract for patient could not fed orally for various reasons. Currently this method is usually used esophagus cancer, proximal stomach cancer, malignancies of oral cavity because of severe dysphagia, intensive care patients that neurologically abnormal as cerebrovascular events that not take oral for a long time and prevention of complications of nasogastric feeding. In this study, we would like to Özkul ve ark.Özkul et al.present cases that performed percutaneous endoscopy gastrostomy (PEG) in our clinic.Material and Methods: Between January 2011 and December 2015, 159 patients who had undergone percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy were included. The demographic data of these patients, indications for PEG procedure, early complications were recorded.Results:159 patients who had undergone percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy were included, 71 (44.6%) of patients were female, 88 (55.4%) of them were male. It was performed in 30 (18.8%) of them for malignancy, 121 (76.1%) of them for neurologicl disorders, 8 (5.1%) of them for inability to feed because of other reasons such as prolonged ventilation. 10 (6.2%) patients had catheter over leak and 4 (2.5%) patients had catheter occlusion. Wound infection had developed in 12 (7.5%) patients.Discussion and Conclusion: Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is cheap, safe and efficient method than surgical gastrostomy that could make a person very comfortable with practice and experienced team alone
PEG takılma nedenleri; 30'u malignite (%18,8),121'i nörolojik hastalık (%76,1) ve 8'i(%5,1) diğer nedenlerden (uzamış ventilasyon vs.) beslenememe sebepleri idi.
