Özet
Nüfus defterleri, ait olduğu yörenin demografik özelliklerini ortaya çıkaracak veriler ihtiva eder. Bunlar arasında şehrin nüfusu ve dini dağılımının tespiti ilk akla gelendir. Bunun dışında hane reislerinin meslekleri, fiziksel nitelikleri, hane halkı sayısı bilgilerine de ulaşılabilir. Sosyal farklılaşma ve tabakalaşmanın dökümleri ve yaşanan göç hareketleri de çıkarılabilir. Bu çalışmada 2111 numaralı, 1834 tarihli Yozgat nüfus defteri incelenmiştir. Deftere göre Yozgat şehir merkezinde dokuz mahalle bulunmaktaydı. Nüfusun büyük bölümü Müslümanlardan oluşmaktadır. Toplam hane sayısı 1.948 ve burada sayımı yapılan erkek birey sayısı ise 5.270 kişiden ibaretti. Makalede Yozgat halkının ekonomik durumu, icra ettikleri meslek kolları, hane reislerinin aldıkları idari görevler tespit edilmiş ve nüfusun yaş aralığı, dinsel dağılımı ve kullanılan şahıs adları istatistiki olarak ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Bunlardan başka sayım esnasında ticaret yapmak üzere Yozgat'ta bulunan yabancı reayayla ilgili veriler de değerlendirmeye tabi tutulmuştur
Abstract
The Census registrations contain data showing demographic peculiarities of a region that they belong to. Among these peculiarities, population and religious distributions are the first to be mentioned. Also, occupations and physical features of heads of family and numbers of family members can be obtained from the registrations. Such information as social differentiation and stratification as well as migration movements can be derived from them. In this study, the Yozgat census registration of 1834 with the number of 2111 has been studied. According to the registration, there were nine quarters in the town center of Yozgat. Most of the population was Muslims. The total number of houses was 1.948 and the number of male residents was 5.270. Here, economic conditions and occupations of the people of Yozgat and administrative duties of heads of families have been detected. Age range of population, religious distribution and used names has been statistically shown. In addition, those who were not residents but present in Yozgat at the time of census for trading have been taken into consideration in the evaluation
