Local and regional air quality management plans in Europe are used to stablish legal mechanisms for emission standards. We present a robust method combining spatial analysis with a dispersion model - Operational Street Pollution Model - (OSPM) for the estimation of direct contaminants (CO) emitted by vehicles in streets canyons (SC) in the city of Valencia. This method includes the use of an inverse model to obtain emission factor (EF) base on experimental data. The results show the strong influence of the traffic intensity data (TID) and wind velocity (WV) with traffic CO emissions. This method is used to analyze the influence of applying corrective actions in the city of Valencia to reduce pollution levels, such as a reduction of traffic intensity or a variation of the emission factor. This procedure can be used in other geographical zones adapting the geographical information and the emission factor.
