Culture-Bound Highlights from the Translation Process of a Poem by Nazım Hikmet

Özet

Bu çalışmada Nazım Hikmet tarafından yazılmış olan "Memleketimden İnsan Manzaraları" eserinin içinde 4. Bab'da bulunan "Türk Köylüsü" adlı şiirin çeviri süreci tartışılmaktadır. Eserden alınan şiir bir çok kültürel öğe içermekte olup, bunlar bu betimleyici makalede şiir çevirisinde dil-içi ve dil-dışı unsurlar çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Amaç şiirin çeviri sürecinde belirlenen kültüre bağlı unsurlara yönelik genel (global) ve ifade bazındaki (local) stratejileri dilbilimsel bir analiz ile saptamak ve uygulamaktır.

Abstract

This study deals with the translation process of a poem titled "Türk Köylüsü" (The Turkish peasant) from the Chapter 4 of "Human Landscapes from My Country" by Nazım Hikmet. The extract involves many cultural elements, which are scrutinized in this descriptive article under intra- and extra-linguistic elements. The aim is to identify and implement the global and local strategies with a linguistic perspective for such culture-bound elements identified in the translation process of the poem.
