The Investigation of The Role of Financial Sector By Shift Share Analysis: The Sample of Nigde Province

Bölgesel Kalkınmada Finans Kesiminin Rolünün Değişim Payı Analizi İle İncelenmesi: Niğde İli Örneği

Abstract

The processes and mechanisms of development processes do not have static dynamics. Besides regional development varies depending on region characteristics and economic motivations. In this respect, the financial sector can be regarded as intermediaries that can directly or indirectly support the development process. But whether the financial sector has an effect on regional development or not is a matter of debate. In this study, it was researched to determine whether the finance sector plays a role in regional development and significant factors which effects regional development is investigated. In this context shift share analysis is employed for Nigde province between 2006 and 2014 within a series of regional and national data on annual frequency. The shift share analysis shows whether the financial sector has a role on regional development. According to the results obtained from the shift share analysis, it has been determined that there is no systematic role of financial sector in the regional development of Niğde Province.

Özet

Kalkınma süreçlerinin işleyişi ve mekanizmaları sabit dinamiklere sahip değildir. Bölgesel kalkınma ise bölge özelliklerine ve ekonomik motivasyonlara bağlı olarak değişmektedir. Bu hususta finansal kesim kalkınma sürecini doğrudan veya dolaylı olarak destekleyebilecek aracılar olarak ele alınabilir. Ancak finansal kesimin bölgesel kalkınma üzerinde bir etkisi olup olmadığı tartışılan bir konudur. Bu çalışmada bölgesel kalkınmada finans kesiminin bir rolü olup olmadığı araştırılarak bölgesel kalkınma üzerinde etkili olan önemli faktörler tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda Niğde ili için 2006 – 2014 yılları arası esas alınarak yıllık frekanstaki bölgesel ve ulusal bir dizi veri dahilinde değişim payı analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Değişim payı analizi, bölgesel kalkınmada finans kesiminin rolü olup olmadığını ortaya koymaktadır. Değişim payı analizinden elde edilen sonuçlara göre ise Niğde ilinin bölgesel kalkınmasında finans kesiminin sistematik bir rolünün olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.
