K ış Uykusu, Nuri Bilge Ceylan'ın 2014 yılında Cannes Film Festivali'nde Altın Palmiye Ödülü'nü aldığı, büyük yankı uyandıran filmidir. Bu film, aslında Türkiye'nin birçok gerçeğine değinen ve Türk kültürünü yansıtan bir yapımdır.İletişim durumunda, her konuşan özne, coğrafi, sınıfsal, sosyo-kültürel, sosyo-ekonomik vb. pek çok değişkenden etkilenir. Bu etkilenme, Kış Uykusu filminde olduğu gibi, kimi zaman aynı kavramı farklı şekillerde ifade etme, kimi zaman dinî kelimelere veya küfüre başvurma, kimi zamansa ünlü düşünürlerden alıntılar yapma şeklinde kendini gösterebilir. Kış Uykusu filmi, işte tam da bu eksende, Türkiye'nin belki de yıllardır içinde bulunduğu "kentli" ve "kasabalı" çatışmasını gözler önüne serer. Nasıl ki "kentli" kendine özgü geliştirdiği bir dil ve konuşma düzeyine sahipse, bu durum "kasabalı" için de geçerlidir. Esasında, bu iki farklı rol aracılığıyla, Türkiye'nin sahip olduğu mozaiği göstermek mümkündür. Nuri Bilge Ceylan da bu farklı sosyal role sahip konuşmacıları ele alarak, içinde bulundukları çatışmaları ve yaptıkları göndermeleri, kültürlerin yansıtılmasındaki en önemli araçlardan biri olan sinema yoluyla yapmayı tercih etmiştir.Bu çalışmada, Türk kültürünü ve imgesini çeşitli bakış açılarında yansıtan böylesi bir filmin, Fransızca altyazısından yararlanarak incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Filmin yazarı ve film hakkında kısa bilgiyi takiben, film ile ilgili Türkiye ve Fransa'da yer alan sinema eleştiri yazıları incelenmiş, Kış Uykusu filminin nasıl bir Türk imgesi oluşturduğu ve Türkiye'nin nasıl temsil edildiği gözlemlenmiştir. Böylelikle, filmin Fransa'da Türk imgesini nasıl yansıttığı hakkında bir bilgi aktarılması amaçlanmıştır

Abstract

The film Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan was awarded the Golden Palm Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, and is a highly acclaimed production. This film is a production that reflects the Turkish culture, and touches upon lots of facts about Turkey.In case of communication, every speaking subject is influenced by a number of factors such as geography, class, socio-culture, socio-economy etc. This impact can be seen, just as in Winter Sleep, at times as explaining the same concept in different ways; sometimes as speaking of within religious terms or swearing; and sometimes as quoting from renowned thinkers. Within this framework, Winter Sleep depicts the ongoing clash between "city-dweller" and "town-dweller." Similar to city-dwellers, town-dwellers also have their unique language and diction. Fundamentally, through these two different roles, it is possible to hint at the mosaic of Turkey. While portraying different characters and speakers from different social roles, Nuri Bilge Ceylan preferred to illustrate the conflicts and references in the psyche of these speakers through one of the most important means of reflecting cultures, that is cinema.The following study aims at analyzing the reflection of the Turkish culture and image in the French subtitled version of the film. The study initially entails short information about the author and the film, fol-lowed by a summary of the review concerning the film in the Turkish and French Press. The focus of this review is to analyze the reflection of the Turkish image in the film and the reception of Turkey in the light of the film in France. The aim is to present information concerning how the Turkish image was relayed to the French viewers through this film
