Firaqu’l-Muftariqa as a Source of Islamic Sects

Abstract

The authors who examines sects dealt with the sects either in a specific book on the subject or in a chapter of other books. In Othman al-Kirmani al-Iraqi as well, handled in the last part of his work Kanz al-Khafi, the sects that had come into existence until his time. However, it is understood that this part which is related to the sects had been copied independently as Firaqu’l-Muftariqa in the process of time. In this article, some information about Kanz alKhafi was given and Firaqu’l-Muftariqa as a source of Islamic sects was examined and evaluated in terms of its method, form, content and style.

İslam mezheplerini konu edinen müellifler, ya müstakil bir kitapta ya da başka bir kitabın içerisinde bir bölüm halinde mezhepleri ele almaktadırlar. Osman el-Kirmânî el-Irakî’de, Kenzü’l-Hafî adlı eserinin son bâbında kendi dönemine kadar olan mezhepleri konu edinmektedir. Ancak mezheplerle ilgili olan bu bâbın, zamanla Fıraku’l-Müfterika adıyla müstakil olarak istinsah edildiği anlaşılmaktadır. Bu makalede hem Kenzü’l-Hafî hakkında bilgi verilmiş hem de bir mezhepler tarihi kaynağı olarak Fıraku’lMüfterika metot, şekil, içerik ve üslup açısından incelenip değerlendirilmiştir.
