Abstract
Syngnathia, is a rare condition that has been previously reported in the literature, denoting fusion between the maxilla and the mandible. This condition ranges from only soft tissue fusion between gums known as synechia to bony union known as synostosis with different grades of fusion. About 27 previous cases had been reported in different regions of the world since 1948 in Germany till 2010 in India. In the present report a 13 days old male was presented with bilateral bony fusion between the mandible and maxilla, where this is considered the third reported case within Kingdom Saudi Arabia since the year 2004, and also one of the few cases without any other associated defects. The patient was subjected to 3 surgical procedures due to operational difficulties and uncooperative parents ended by successfully enabling the patient to open his mouth 35mm.
