The Effect of the Use of Geogebra in the Teaching of Basic Topological Concepts in $\mathbb{R}^{\mathcal n}$ Space

Abstract

In this study, the effects of using GeoGebra on computer-aided instruction of the basic topological concepts in ℝ𝒏 were investigated. For this purpose, an experimental study was conducted with 40 students enrolled in the Secondary School of Mathematics Educat ion in Kastamonu University in 2015-2016 academic year with pre-test and post-test control group. Simultaneously, the teaching method where expository teaching instruction is used and GeoGebra assisted instruction were conducted in both groups. The quantitative data were analyzed by appropriate parametric statistical tests. According to the findings obtained in the study, it was observed that there was no significant difference between the teacher candidates in the experimental and control groups, who were found to have success before the application, after the application..

Özet

Bu çalışmada, $\mathbb{R}^{\mathcal n}$ uzayındaki temel topolojik kavramların bilgisayar destekli öğretiminde GeoGebra kullanılmasının etkisinin incelenmesi üzerine bir araştırma yapılmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, Kastamonu Üniversitesi’nin 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılında İlköğretim Matematik Öğretmenliği Programı 2.sınıfına kayıtlı 40 öğrenci ile ön test – son test kontrol gruplu deneysel bir çalışma yürütülmüştür. Araştırma sürecinde sunuş yöntemi kullanılan öğretim yöntemi ile GeoGebra destekli öğretim eş zamanlı olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen nicel veriler uygun parametrik istatistik testleri ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara göre, uygulama öncesi başarısı denk olan deney ve kontrol grubundaki öğretmen adaylarının, uygulama sonrasında yapılan son test başarı puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılığın olmadığı gözlemlenmiştir..
