The Place of “Values” Concept in the Classical Thought System and its Traditional References

“Değer” Mefhumunun Klasik Düşünce Sistemi İçerisindeki Yeri ve Geleneksel Referansları

Abstract

The concepts of values, values education and character education are among the issues that have been emphasized in our education system for the last fifteen years. Scrutiny of relevant literature show that there are several studies and research projects carried out about the conceptual dimension of the concepts of value, value education and character education, as well as the reflections of these concepts in the field. Therefore, there is adequate amount of data related to concepts of values and values education. When the scientific foundations of these studies are examined, it is seen that values and values education issues are discussed to a certain extent in accordance with the theories proposed by the USA and the European thought systems. However, in our traditional accumulation, many respected intellectuals have expressed considerable opinions on these issues, and have thoroughly discussed human, virtue, morality, value and wisdom issues with philosophical basics in the focus of the imagination and common sense concepts. This study was carried out to reveal the characteristics of values and values education issues within the classical system of thought and to raise awareness in scientific enterprise through our traditional references.

Özet

Değer, değer eğitimi ve karakter eğitimi kavramları son on beş yıldır eğitim sistemimiz içerisinde üzerinde durulan meselelerin başında gelmektedir. Literatüre bakıldığında hem değer, değer eğitim ve karakter eğitimi mefhumlarının kavramsal boyutu hem de bu kavramların sahadaki yansımaları üzerine pek çok araştırma ve projenin yapıldığı görülmektedir. Dolayısıyla değer ve değerler eğitimini kapsayan kavramlarla alakalı elimizde pek çek veri bulunmaktadır. Yapılan bu araştırmaların ilmî temellerine bakıldığında ise bütünüyle olmasa bile ekseriyetle ABD ve Avrupa düşünce sisteminden mülhem referansların öne sürdüğü teoriler doğrultusunda değer ve değer eğitimi meselelerinin ele alındığı görülmektedir. Hâlbuki geleneksel müktesebatımızda bu konular hakkında pek çok muteber entelektüel, fikir beyan etmiş; insan, erdem, ahlak, değer ve irfan meselelerini muhayyile ve hiss-i müşterek mefhumları odağında felsefi temellendirmelerle etraflıca tartışmışlardır. Bu çalışma, klasik düşünce sistemi dâhilinde değer ve değer eğitimi meselelerinin hangi hususiyetleri ihtiva ettiğini ortaya koymak ve geleneksel referanslarımıza dair bilim çevrelerinde bir farkındalık uyandırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır.
