Adult population dynamics of Oriental Fruit Moth Cydia molesta Busck.(Lepidoptera : Tortricidae) in peach and nectarine orchards in Adana and Mersin provinces

Abstract
In this study the adult population dynamics of Oriental Fruit Moth, Cydia molesta Busck was determined at peach and nectarine orchards in Adana and Mersin provinces between the years 2005 – 2007 by using pheromone traps. The results indicated that Oriental fruit moth was found widespread in the region. In some orchards it was the prevailing lepidopteran species. It was concluded that the pest was active in the orchards between the end of March and October. The adult moth population produced 3 to 5 flight periods and 4 to 6 peaks during the active period. The highest adult population occured in August and September. Adult flight curves showed that the pest had 4 to 6 generations per year in the region. It was observed that Oriental fruit moth caused intensive shoot damage but production of early ripening nectarine and peach species without fruit damage could be done in plain part of East Mediterranean Region.
Özet
Adana ve Mersin illeri şeftali ve nektarin bahçelerinde 2005 – 2007 yılları arasında yürütülen bu çalışmada Doğu meyvegüvesi’nin ergin popülasyon değişimi eşeysel çekici tuzaklar kullanılarak takip edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda, bölgemizde yaygın olarak bulunduğu hatta bazı bahçelerde hakim tür olduğu saptanan Doğu meyvegüvesi’nin mart ayı sonundan ekim ayına kadar aktif olduğu, bu süre içinde 3-5 ergin uçuş periyodu ve ergin uçuşlarında da 4-6 tepe noktası oluşturduğu saptanmıştır. Tuzaklarda yakalanan kelebek sayılarının en yüksek değere ağustos – eylül aylarında ulaştığı belirlenmiştir. Popülasyon gelişim eğrileri incelendiğinde zararlının bölgede yılda 4 - 6 döl verebileceği tespit edilmiştir. Doğu Akdeniz Bölgesi’nin ova kesiminde üretimi tercih edilen erkenci çeşitlerde, Doğu meyvegüvesi’nin yoğun sürgün zararı oluşturduğu ancak meyve zararı görülmeksizin üretimin yapılabildiği gözlenmiştir.
