Abstract
The mushrooms picked up recently in the cedar woods have become a significant financial support to the peasants living near the forests. One of those mushrooms called cedar mushroom appears in the autumn (for three months on average) when there is no summer drought and winter cold, both the soil and the climate are humid. In this study, ecological needs of cedar mushrooms (Tricholoma anatolicum Doğan&Intini) cohabiting symbiotically with the roots of cedar tree in the cedar woods in Feke, Adana. Research areas possess either simply cedar trees or a mixture of different kinds of trees. When the soil in the research area (chosen 3 different research area) was analyzed, it was determined that the soil is sandy and full of clay having the texture of mud and the amount of salt is low, rich of organic matters. Humus layer appears in 5-10 cm deep level from soil surface and mycelium of Tricholoma mushroom found in 10-30 cm deep level of forest soil. While nitrogen and organic matter in forest soil samples which consist of mycelium of Tricholoma mushroom was found more than samples which does not consist of mycelium; differences for salt, phosphor and potassium were no significant. While cedar mushroom did not seem in the young cedar forest, it was determined in the cedar forests which consist of 25-30 years old cedar tree due to stronger of relationship between tree root and mushroom. Average age, length and diameter for cedar tree which used in research were found respectively: 30-60 years old, 15-22 m and 30-60 cm. The cedar forests which mushrooms were spread out were pure and mixed with the other species. It was seen that the mushroom amount was increased in the years which the cedar forests were rich in seed. The cedar forests were widespread on the slopes consistent with the topography of the region.
