PERI-IMPLANTİTİS VE SAĞLIKLI DENTAL İMPLANTLARDAKİ PERİ-İMPLANT OLUĞU SIVISINDA IL-8 DÜZEYLERİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

THE ANALYSIS OF THE IL-8 LEVELS IN PERI-IMPLANT CREVICULAR FLUID OF PERI-IMPLANTITIS AND HEALTHY DENTAL IMPLANT

Abstract

Background and Aim: None of the therapeutic strategies has proven to be highly effective against peri-implantitis, and a gold standard for the treatment of peri-implantitis and peri-implant mucositis has yet to be defined. The aim of this study was to determine the role of IL-8 in peri-implantitis pathogenesis by analysis the IL-8 levels in peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) of peri-implantitis and healthy dental implants. Material and Methods: A total of 12 implants; 6 healthy dental implants and 6 implants with peri-implantitis found in 6 patients were included in this study. IL-8 levels of the obtained PICF samples were evaluated with Luminex 200TM by using Human Cytokin Plex kit. Results: It was shown that there was significant differences between the PICF IL-8 levels of healthy dental implants and peri-implantitis groups. IL-8 levels were significantly higher in peri-implantitis group (p=0.03). It has been observed that IL-8 levels elevated as probing depth increased. Conclusion: Increased IL-8 levels , indicate that cytokines play and important role in the pathogenesis of IL-8 in periimplantitis. In conclusion, understanding the role of cytokines in pathogenesis of peri-implantitis may provide important contributions to the development of disease prevention and new treatment strategies.

Giriş ve Amaç: Peri-implant hastalıkların multi faktöriyel doğası sebebiyle, peri-implantitis ve peri-implant mukositis tedavisinde standart bir tedavi protokolü oluşturulamamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, peri-implantitisli ve sağlıklı dental implantların peri-implant oluğu sıvısındaki (PIOS) IL-8 düzeylerini inceleyerek, IL-8'in periimplantitisteki rolünü tespit etmektir. Materyal ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya 6 hastada bulunan 6 sağlıklı ve 6 peri-implantitisli toplam 12 implant dahil edildi. PIOS IL-8 düzeyleri Luminex 200TM Human Cytokine Plex kiti kullanılarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: PIOS IL-8 düzeylerinde peri-implantitis ve kontrol grupları arasında anlamlı farklar olduğu görüldü. Peri-implantitis grubunda PİOS IL-8 seviyeleri önemli derecede yüksekti (p=0.03). PIOS IL-8 düzeyleri ve peri-implant sondlama derinliği (MB, ML, DB, DL) arasında sondlama derinliği arttıkça IL-8 seviyelerinin de arttığı gözlendi.. Sonuç: PIOS IL-8 düzeylerinin peri-implantitiste arttığını gösteren bulgularımız, IL-8'in peri-implantitisin etyopatogenezinde önemli rol oynadığına işaret etmektedir Sonuç olarak, peri-implantitisin patogenezinde sitokinlerin rolünün anlaşılması, hastalığın önlenmesi ve yeni tedavi stratejilerinin geliştirilmesinde önemli katkılar sağlayabilir.
