An lnvestigation on eosonal Variation in Mineral Levels of Calcium, Magnesium and lnorganic Phosphorus in the Blood of Cattle in Thrace Where Botulism ls Shown to Occur and in Those Areas Where lt ls Absent

Abstract
This study was conducted throughout the years of 1974 · 1975 with the object of determining mineral levels of calcium, magnesium and inorganic phosphorus in blood of cattle from Tlırace which is a northren part of Marmara geogpraphic region. 'A total ;of 980 cottle at any ages and sexes from three provinces and four villages (unites) at each province where chosen. Serums were taken at least 20 cattle for each season at the unit. Mineral determination in the blood were 'made by the methods of Clark and Collip (1925) for calcium, Denis (1922) (modified) for magnesium and Fiske and Subbarow (1925) for phosphorus. According to laboratory analysis of serums from the cattle had % 10.05 ± 0.20 (8.70- 1 1.70) mg o fserum calcium, %ı 2.22 ± 0.09 (1.78- 2.58) mg of magnesium and % 5.96 '± 0.43 (4.18 - 8.18) mg of inorganik phosphorus. The results were very similar to records from this country as well other countries. It was found that there were no notible differences at fluctation of mineral levels in seasoris of the years in the cattle grazed in the pasture where botulismus occured earlier and in the cattle grazed in the pastures where botulismus did not occured. · The arerage amount of mineraİs in 1000 ·grams . of dried · food (grasses were collected spring, summer and autumn, grains' and . other food for·winter) estimated as. ·6.74 ·grams of calcium, 2.20 grams of magnesium and 2.23 grams of phosphorus.

Bu çalışma 1974- 1975 yılları arasında Trakya Bölgesinde sığırların kanlanndaki kalsiyum, mağnezyum ve inorganik fosfor seviyelerini tesbit amacı ile ele alındı. Çalışmada cins, ırk ve yaş ayırımı yapılmaksızın üç ilden toplam 980 sığır kan örneği işlendi. Her il· den 4 köy (ünite) seçilmiştir.Kanda mineral tayininde kalsiyum için Clark and· Collip (1925), magnezyum için Denis .1922) (modified), inorganik fosfor için Fis. ke and Subbarow (1925), metodu kullanıldı. Siğır serumlarında analiz sonuçlarında kalsiyum % 10,05 ± 0,20 (8,70-11,70) mg. mağnezyum %. 2.22±0,09 (1,78 - 2,58) . mg.inorganik fosfor % 5,96 ± 0,43 (4 .18- 8,18) mg. bulundu. Bulduğumuz bu neticeler diğer memleketlerde bulunan neticelere (literatür kayıtlarına) çok benzemektedir. Alınan sonuçlara göre mevsimler arasında ve Botulismus görülen ve görülmeyen , üniteler. arasinda kayda değer fark görülmedi. • Sığırlara yedirilen yiyeceklerdeki (ilkbahar, yaz, sonbaharda mer'a otları, kışın .yedirilen tane ve diğer yemler ki, kuru ot, saman, .küsbe v.b.) mineral maddeler 1000 gram kuru madde gram olarak: kalsiyum 6,74 gr, mağnezyum 2,20 gr; fosfor 2,23 gr. bulundu .
