Blood parasites and ticks of cattle in the region of Middle Black Sea Coast.

Abstract
This study was carried out the years of 1976 - 1978 with the object of determining the fauna of blood parasites and ticks on cattle, their distr'ibution and seasonal fluctations and pr ophylactic effect of Berenil in the' region of Middle Black sea cost. Babesia bovis was determined as being common blood parasite of cattle, and B. bigemina, B. berbera and mix invasion of Babesia spp and B. major, were also occuring in the region.Boophlus annulatus which suspected as carrier of cattle babesiesis were found being 86,9 % of the ticks collected. Other ticks identified were Rhipicephalus bursa, R. sanguineus Hya-: lomma spp .. Haemaphysalis spp., H. concinna, Ixodes ricinus were also occuring in the region. Berenil were used at the dose of 3,5 mg/kg. to cattle with babesiosis for treatment. It was also used to healthy cattle at one or two doses to prevent of babesiosis. The both treatment were successful. In the experiment to infect cattle with B. bovis and Theileria mutans by B. annulatus were unsatisfactory.

Haziran 1976 - Mayıs 1978 tarihleri arasında yürütülen bu çalışınada Orta Karadeniz coğrafi bölgesinde sığır ırklarında görülen kan parazitleri ve kenelerin bulunuş oranları, ınevsiınJerle ilgileri, babesia invazyonlanna karşı berenil'in koruyucu özelliği belirlendi. Bölgede Baıbesia bovis'in en yaygın tür olduğu, B. bigemina, B. berbera, miks babesia invazyonları ve B. major sırayla görüldü. Ba besiosis'li sığırlardan toplanan kene nev'Herinin % 86,9 B. annulatus olduğu saptandı. Ayrıca R. bursa, R. sanguineus, İ. ricinus, Hyalomma spp., H~emaphysalis spp. ve· H. concinna da bölgede görüldü. Babesiosis'li sığırların tedavisinde 3,5 mg/ kg. berenil kullanıldı koruyucu olarak 3,5 mg/kg. bir ve iki ·doz kullanılan berenilden aynı derecede olumlu sonuç alındı. B. bovis ve T. mutansla enfekte sığırlardan B. annulatus ile hastalık nakli yapılamadı.
