İSLAM COĞRAFYACILARINA GÖRE ORTA ÇAĞ’DA ÂMİD (DİYARBAKIR)

Özet

İnsanoğlunun yerleşik hayata geçmesi ile birlikte, eski zamanlardan beri şehir yaşamı insan için mühim bir yere sahip olmuştur. Bilhassa nehir kenarında kurulan ve suya yakın, tarıma elverişli ve ulaşımı kolay olan şehirler, insanları ve insanların bir teşekkülü olan devletleri kendine cezbetmiştir. Adını zikrettiğimiz bu şehirlerden bir tanesi Yukarı Mezopotamya’da yer alan Âmid (Diyarbakır) şehridir. Dicle Nehri kıyısında kurulan Âmid şehri Eski Çağlardan itibaren önemli bir yere sahip olmuş ve bu önemini Orta Çağ’da da devam ettirmiştir. Öte yandan IX-X. yüzyılda İslam dünyasında coğrafya ilminin gelişmesi ile birlikte, Müslüman yazarlar, coğrafya ilmi konusunda önemli eserler vücuda getirmişlerdir. Bu eserlerde müellifler, İslam dünyasının coğrafi konumu, ülkeleri, bölgeleri ve şehirleri ile ilgili mühim bilgiler vermişlerdir. Aynı zamanda bu müellifler, Orta Çağda Müslümanlar açısından önemli bir konumda olan ve el-Cezîre bölgesinde yer alan Âmid (Diyarbakır) şehri ile de dikkate değer bilgiler aktarmışlardır. Bu çalışmada Âmid şehrinin Orta Çağda siyasi durumu genel olarak anlatıldıktan sonra İslam coğrafyacılarının şehir hakkında verdiği bilgiler derlenip değerlendirilmiştir

Abstract

Ever since humanity settled, urban life has an important place in human life. Especially the cities which is riverside and close to the water, arable and easy to access to urban transportation has attracted people and the states, formed by human being. One of the cities we called is Amid (Diyarbakir) located in the Upper Mesopotamia. Founded on the banks of the Tigris River, the city of Amid had an important place since ancient times and this importance has maintained in the Middle Ages. On the other hand, IX-X. century, with the development of the science of geography in the Islamic world, muslim authors has created important works on the science of geopraphy. In these works, the authors provided important information about the geographical position, countries, regions and cities of the Islamic world. At the same time, these authors gave remarkable information about the city of Amid (Diyarbakir), which is located in the area of alDjazira, which is important for Muslims in the Middle Ages. In this study, after discussing the political situation of Amid in the Middle Ages, the information given by Islamic geographers about the city was compiled and evaluated.
