Transfusion of blood and blood products

Abstract

Blood is an alive tissue composed of specific elements with each having a spesific function. In current practice transfusion acts in the principle of determining required components of the blood. Like all the other treatments, availability and efficacy of blood transfusion is possible with considering the contents, composition and adverse effects of products. As blood transfusion is life saving, misuse could result life treating complications. The aim of this study is to remind health care workers the important points of blood transfusion.

Kan her biri ayrı fonksiyona sahip son derece spesifik yapılardan oluşmuş bir bütün, canlı bir dokudur. Modern anlamda transfüzyon tıbbıtam kan yerine kanın sadece hastaya gerekli komponentlerinin belirlenip uygulanması prensibi üzerinden hareket eder. Diğer tüm tedavilerde olduğu gibi kan transfüzyon tedavisinin uygunluğu ve etkinliği, kullanılacak ürünün içeriğinin, yapısının ve yan etkilerinin bilinmesi ile mümkündür. Kan transfüzyonu hayat kurtarıcı bir girişim olabildiği gibi yanlış uygulamalar nedeniyle hayatı tehdit edici komplikasyonlar ile de sonuçlanabilir. Bu yazının amacı kan transfüzyonu kararı veren ve uygulayan sağlık çalışanlarına bu konuda bazı noktaları hatırlatmaktır.
