Endophthalmitis and prophylaxis

Abstract

One of the most fearful complications of intraocular surgery is postoperative endophthalmitis. Although there are many advances in surgical devices and instruments in recent years with the use of effective prophylaxis procedures, the incidence of endophthalmitis is still about 0.1%. The aim of this study is to imply the pre-, intra-, and post-operative important points to reduce the incidence of endophthalmitis. Also the treatment protocols were evaluated in case with endophthalmitis despite the prophylactic measures.

Özet

Postoperatif endoftalmiler göz ameliyatlarından sonra gelişebilecek en korkulan komplikasyondur. Son yıllarda cihazlardaki gelişmeler, ameliyatta kullanılan malzemelerin kalitesinin artmasına ve etkin profilaksiye rağmen endoftalmi sıklığı halen %0.1 düzeylerindedir. Bu derlemede, endoftalmi gelişimini engellemek için ameliyat öncesinde, ameliyat esnasında ve ameliyat sonrasında hangi noktalara dikkat edilmesi gerektiği vurgulanmıştır. Aynı zamanda bütün önlemlere rağmen endoftalmi gelişirse de hangi protokolleri uygulamak gerektiği üzerinde durulmuştur.
