Abstract

In this paper, we present the polychromatic roman mosaics with a geometric organization and a vegetalistdecoration discovered during the archaeological excavation that took place in 2001 in Santa Maria do Freixochurch (Northern Portugal). After describing the ruins and the mosaics, a brief contextualization (includingthe formal analysis of the building and of the mosaics and its local and regional geographic context) is givenin order to try to understand its social and cultural meanings.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, 2001 yılında Santa Maria do Freixo Kilisesi’nde (Kuzey Portekiz) gerçekleştirilen arkeolojikkazı sırasında keşfedilen geometrik ve bitkisel süslemeye sahip polikrom Roma mozaikleri sunulmuştur.Arkeolojik kalıntıları ve mozaikleri tanımladıktan sonra, kısa bir kontekst değerlendirmesi (binanın vemozaiklerin analizi ile yerel ve bölgesel coğrafi kontekst de dahil olmak üzere) yapılacak, sosyal ve kültürelmanaları anlaşılmaya çalışılacaktır.
