Candida esophagitis in an immunocompetent case

Abstract

Infections of the esophagus are important complications of immune deficiencies but are unusual in immunocompetent persons. When fungal esophagitis has been found in immunocompetent host, predisposing conditions have often been identified. We herein report a case of a 39 years of immunocompetent woman who had developed candida esophagitis without any predisposing factors. In this case report we wanted to draw attention to the occurence of candida esophagitis in apparently immune competent individuals.

Özet

Özefagus enfeksiyonları, immün yetmezlik durumlarının önemli komplikasyonları olup, immün kompetan kişilerde oldukça nadir görülürler. İmmün kompetan konakçıda fungal enfeksiyon varlığında, sıklıkla predispozan bir durum tespit edilmektedir. Biz burada herhangi predispozan bir faktör bulunmaksızın kandida özefajiti geçiren 39 yaşında immün kompetan bir kadın olgudan bahsetmekteyiz. Bu olgu sunumunda görünürde immün yetmezliği olmayan kişilerde gelişebilen kandida özefajitine dikkat çekmek istedik.
