Sultan Izzeddin Mesut's Struggle with Emir Gazi's Children

Abstract
The State of Seljuks, which left her mark on Middle Ages, had been a stage to lots of Sultanate fights during her reign. These conflicts which were not only bounded to the sovereignty policy of the state but also the lack of rules for royalty caused one or more Sultanate fights during each sultan's era. During her reign the State which had to get in the outer struggles with other states, she had to deal with her own internal problems as well. These problems, which she lived in her own right, had occured by the endeavours of the caliph of the period, and by army commanders and by the plots of the other countries. Unfortunately, these internal problems affected the lifespan of the State significantly. In the covered subject, the period of Mesud, who was one of the Seljuk State sultans,was investigated. Nominately, to keep control of the sultanate Sultan Mesud's struggle with Emir Gazi's children is remarkable and this struggle constitutes the centerboard of the study.
Özet
Ortaçağ dönemine damgasını vurmuş olan Selçuklu devleti, hüküm sürdüğü yıllar boyunca birçok Saltanat kavgasına sahne olmuştur. Yaşanan bu çekişmeler devletin uygulamış olduğu hâkimiyet anlayışı siyasetine bağlı olmakla beraber hükümdarlık için belli kaidelerin de olmaması her sultan döneminde bir veya birden fazla Saltanat kavgasının yaşanamasın sebep olmuştur. Hâkimiyeti süresince birçok devlet ile dış mücadeleler içerisine giren ve birçok başarı alan devler, aynı zamanda kendi iç meseleleri ile de meşgul olmak durumunda kalmıştır. Kendi içinde yaşadığı bu meseleler, gerek dönemin halifesi tarafından gerek ordu komutanları tarafından gerekse dış devletlerin entrikaları sonucu ortaya çıkmıştır. Ne yazık ki yaşanan bu iç meseleler devletin ömrünü önemli derecede etkilemiştir. Ele alınan konuda da yine Selçuklu devleti sultanlarından Mesud dönemi incelenmiştir. Özellikle Sultan Mesud’un Saltanatı elinde tutmak için verdiği mücadelede Emir Gazinin çocukları ile giriştiği mücadele dikkat çekicidir ve bu mücadele çalışmanın ana omurgasını oluşturmaktadır.
