Primary Schools Of The Sanjak Of The Mentese In The Education Inspection Reports (1915-1917)

Maarif Teftiş Raporlarında Menteşe Sancağı İbtidâi Mektepleri (1915-1917)

Abstract

The inspections of the primary schools in the sanjak of Mentese between 1915-1917, which is the subject of this research, consist of two school years. In this process, the primary schools in Muğla (the center of sanjak), Fethiye, Marmaris, Milas, Köyceğiz, Bodrum districts and the villages belonging to these districts were inspected. These inspection reports, in the Catalogue of Heyet-i Teftişiye of the Maarif Fonu in the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives are unique sources that contain many valuable information such as the situation of school buildings, educational materials, student attendance, teaching staff, quality of teaching in terms of the education studies. In this study, the primary schools in the sanjak of Menteşe during the First World War will be examined and evaluated in the light of the datas in the inspection reports. Thus, it is aimed to contribute to the historical studies about the history of the education of Muğla.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın konusunu teşkil eden 1915-1917 arası Menteşe Sancağındaki ibtidâilerin teftişleri, iki ders yılını kapsamaktadır. Bu süreçte, Muğla (sancak merkezi), Fethiye, Marmaris, Milas, Köyceğiz, Bodrum kazalarındaki ve bu kazalara bağlı köylerdeki ibtidâiler teftiş edilmiştir. Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi Maarif Fonu Heyet-i Teftişiye Kataloğunda bulunan bu teftiş raporları, eğitim çalışmaları açısından okul binalarının durumu, eğitim araç-gereçleri, öğrencilerin devamı, öğretim kadroları, tedrisatın niteliği gibi birçok değerli bilgiyi ihtiva eden eşsiz kaynaklardır. Bu çalışmada I. Dünya Savaşı esnasında Menteşe Sancağındaki ibtidâiler, teftiş raporlarındaki veriler ışığında incelenerek değerlendirilmeye çalışılacaktır. Bu vesileyle Muğla eğitim tarihine de katkıda bulunulması amaçlanmaktadır.
