Abstract

As revealed in his own words "Taking inspiration directly from the Quran, we should make the intellect of the age pronounce Islam" Akif makes efforts to get the age he was in to pronounce Islam. As Akif criticizes the traditional understanding of religion what he aims to achieve is to call people back to the book and the sun-nah, from which they had been distant, and to purify the religion of innovations and superstitions. Akif wants the religion to be saved from the swamp of imitation and the predecessors be taken as examples whereas the new problems faced should be solved like they solved theirs. Muslims have to be saved from the religious, moral and cultural corruption they fell into and the social and political reflections of these. In order to achieve this, our understanding of religion has to be revised

Özet

"Doğrudan doğruya Kur'an'dan alıp ilhamı, Asrın idrakine söyletmeliyiz İslam'ı" diyen Akif, içerisinde bulunduğu zaman dilimine İslam'ı söyletmek için çaba sarf eder. Akif'in geleneksel din anlayışını eleştirirken varmak istediği hedef, kitap ve sünnetten uzaklaşan İslam toplumunu tekrar bu iki ana kaynağa döndürmek; dini, bid'at ve hurafelerden arındırmaktır. Akif, dinin taklit bataklığından kurtarılmasını ve selefin örnek alınmasını isterken onlar gibi, yeni meselelerle karşılaşıldığında çözüm bulunması gerektiğini belirtir. Müslümanları içine düştükleri dini, ahlâkî ve kültürel yozlaşmadan ve bunların içtimâî ve siyasî yansımalarından kurtarmaya çalışmak gerekmektedir. Bunun için de din anlayışını yeniden gözden geçirmeye ihtiyaç vardır
