Method and Literature Review of Industry 4.0: Postgraduate Theses in Turkey

Abstract

Regarding the development of industrialization, the 4.0 process has found an importantresponse at the academic level and in the field of application since the day it started. The fact thatindustrialization affects not only the factories but the society, the economy, the sectors andultimately everything causes the research to increase. Researchers from different fields both in theirown fields and in collaboration enrich the evaluation of Industry 4.0 in this context. This study wasconducted methodical analysis of graduate studies being made on Turkey in the industry at 4.0.Thus, the methodological evaluation of the methods and tools used in the postgraduate theses andthe subjects in which the concept of Industry 4.0 is dealt with are examined. When the informationobtained as a result of the study is evaluated, it is observed that the objectivist method is dominantin almost all theses examined. In the research design, it has been found that explaining the researchproblem is prominent and it has adopted the mission of directing the application. In the datacollection phase, secondary sources, interview and questionnaire methods were found to be mostlyused methods. It is seen that the scales used are mostly original scales, while qualitative analysismethods are mainly used in the analysis parts. With the study carried out at the end, it wasunderstood that important findings were obtained regarding the scope, application areas andmethods used of the theses on Industry 4.0 and these could become a reference source for newresearches.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’deki yapılmış olan Endüstri 4.0 ile ilgili lisansüstü çalışmaların yöntemsel analizini yapmaktır. Çalışmada lisansüstü tezlerde kullanılan yöntem ve araçların metodolojik bağlamda değerlendirilmesini yapmak ve Endüstri 4.0 kavramının hangi konular bağlamında ele alındığını ortaya koymak amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen bilgiler değerlendirildiğinde İncelenen tezlerin neredeyse tamamında nesnelci yöntem bilimsel yaklaşımın hakim olduğu, araştırma tasarımındaki amacın ele aldıkları araştırma problemini açıklamak yönünde olduğu ve uygulamayı yönlendirmek misyonunu benimsediği, veri toplama aşamasında sırasıyla ikincil kaynaklar, görüşme ve anket yöntemlerinin daha çok başvurulan yöntemler olduğu, kullanılan ölçeklerin daha çok özgün ölçekler olduğu, analiz kısımlarında nitel analiz yöntemlerinin daha ağırlıklı olarak kullanıldığı, nitel çalışmaların hem klasik hem de yorumsayıcı yöntemler ile analiz edildiği nicel çalışmaların ise iki değişkenli ve çok değişkenli analiz yöntemleri ile değerlendirildiği görülmektedir.
