The economic losses caused by Hypodermosis in the livestock industry in Turkey

Abstract
Hypoderma bovis (de geer, 1776) and Hypoderma aegagri (Brauer,1863) are widespread among cattle and goats.In this study, the economic losses of cattle caused especially byHypoderma bovis have been determined.On the basis of the data received from the 1960 statistics thelosses have been estimated ata total of 546,762,581 (TL.).The separate figures that lead to the above total are as follows257,441,805 T.L. in loss of weight.20,266,074 T.L. in meat production.221,227,330 T.L. in milk.6,207,508 T.L. in hides.41,619,864 T.L. in leather industries.

Sığırlarımızda Hypoderma bovis (de geer, 1776) ve keçilerimizdeHypoderma aegagri (Brauer, 1863) yaygın olarak görülmektedir.Bu çalışmada bilhassa Hypoderma bovis'in sığır verimleri üzerinde sebepolduğu ekonomik kayıplar tesbit edilmiştir. 1960 yılındaki istatistikimalumat üzerinden hesap edilen bu kayıplar, hayvanların kiloalmalarında 257.441.805 TL.; et istihsalinde 20.266.074 TL.; süt te221.227.330 TL.; yaş deride 6.207.508 TL.; ve deri sanayiinde ise41.619.864 TL.; olmak üzere cem'an 546.762.581 TL. olarak tesbit edilmiştir.
