Seeing the Prophet in Dream -It’s Scope and Value as Knowledge

Abstract

Dream, which is one of the most common aspects of human daily life, has attracted interest in all societies throughout history due to its “mystery”. Thanks to this mystery, it has been accepted as an important way of contacting the metaphysical realm. Its similarity with the “Vahiy (revelation)”, which is the only source of heavenly religions, has led to the evaluation of the dream as a source of information on religious issues. A more specific aspect of the subject is the dream of the Prophet and its value of knowledge is the area in which this article aims to clarify. It has been tried to put forward a healthy result by evaluating the narratives about the subject and how they have been understood throughout history. The subject can be summarized as follows: As ordinary people, dreams should not be exaggerated; you see a dream and it’s end. It is of course valuable to see the Prophet in a dream, but this has no binding knowledge of religion.

İnsanın günlük hayatının olağan işlerinden olan rüya, barındırdığı “gizem” sebebiyle tarih boyunca bütün toplumlarda ilgi çekici olmuştur. Bu gizemi sayesinde de gayb âlemiyle irtibat kurmanın önemli bir yolu olarak kabul edilmiştir. Semavî dinlerin yegâne kaynağı olan vahiy ile kurulan bir nebze olan benzerliği, rüyanın dinî konularda bilgi kaynağı gibi değerlendirilmesine yol açmıştır. Konunun daha tahsisî bir yönünü oluşturan Hz. Peygamber’in rüyada görme ve bunun bilgi değeri, bu makalenin açıklığa kavuşturmayı hedeflediği alandır. Konu ile ilgili rivayetler ve bunların tarih boyunca nasıl anlaşıldığı noktasındaki yaklaşımlar değerlendirilerek sağlıklı bir sonuç ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonucu şöyle özetlemek mümkündür: Sıradan insanlar olarak rüyaları fazla abartmamak lazımdır; görülüp geçilir. Peygamberimiz’i rüyada görmek elbette değerlidir, lakin bunun dinen hiçbir bağlayıcı bilgi değeri yoktur.
