INTERNET USAGE OF PRIMARY EDUCATION SECOND STAGE STUDENTS IN TERMS OF GRADES

Abstract
The objective of the research is to determine the Internet usage of primary education second stage students in terms of grades. The study group of this descriptive research consists of 6th/7th/ 8th/ grades students attending a primary education state school in Ankara in the 2009- 2010 academic year. Frequencies and percentages were utilised in the analyses of the data included in the questionnaire developed by researchers and field specialists. As a result, the following issues were found out respectively: 6th and 7th grades students use İnternet in order to do research for their homework, 8th grade students benefit from İnternet for listening music and watching video, their teachers do not recommend any website addresses to them, students state that they can access various resources that they want via Internet, 7th and 8th grades students state that Internet causes addiction, the parents of 8th grades students control websites that the students access less than the others compared to other grades.
Özet
Araştırmanın amacı; ilköğretim ikinci kademe öğrencilerinin İnternetten yararlanma durumlarını sınıf düzeylerine göre belirlemektir. Betimsel araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2009-2010 öğretim yılında Ankara’da devlet ilköğretim okuluna devam eden 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmacılar ve alan uzmanları tarafından geliştirilen anketteki verilerin analizinde frekans ve yüzde kullanılmıştır. Sonuçta: 6 ve 7. sınıfların ödev araştırma yapmak, 8. sınıfların müzik dinlemek ve video seyretmek için İnternetten yararlandığı; öğrencilerin öğretmenlerinin İnternette girecekleri adresler konusunda kendilerine önerilerde bulunmadıkları; istedikleri kaynaklara İnternetten ulaşabildikleri; 7 ve 8. sınıf öğrencileri İnternetin bağımlılığa neden olduğunu belirttikleri, bağlandıkları İnternet sitelerini ailelerinin kontrol etme durumlarının 8. sınıfta daha az olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
