USE OF LEGENDS IN SOCIAL STUDIES PROGRAMME

Abstract

Humankind sanctifies the people, objects, and places that they consider important to the geography they live in, and they interpret the things they can not solve their secret in various ways. They also add some events that have been experienced and transmit them to generations. Legends, one of the folk literature products, are one of the fields that provide the cultural transfer between the past and present, and contribute to the understanding of the human and its cultural structure. Legends are one of the elements that link human to human, human to geography, human to other beings, human to the spiritual world. Geographical elements that direct human life with positive or negative effects have been the subject of both natural and social sciences such as art, literature and history. One of the important elements of the education process is the teaching programs. The curriculum aims to provide the students with the knowledge and skills that they need in life, by foreseeing the knowledge and skills that can be needed in life. At the same time, curricula are guiding materials in the formation of textbooks. For this reason, a study was conducted on the curriculum of the 2015 Social Studies course. In this study, the curriculum of the Social Studies course of 2015 was examined and a descriptive analysis in this program was conducted on the use of legends which are one of the oral literary products. In this study, it was determined that the use of legends was insufficient although the epics and tales were found in the 2015 Social Studies course teaching program

Özet

İnsanların önemli gördükleri eşya, kişi ve mekânları kutsallaştırma yönü vardır. Özellikle sırrını çözemedikleri konuları farklı şekillerde yorumlar ve bunlara yaşanmış bazı olayları da katıp efsaneleri oluştururlar. Efsaneler bir doğa olayını, bir varlığın meydana gelişini ya da doğa olaylarından herhangi birinde meydana gelen değişikliği olağanüstü açıklamalarla kuşaktan kuşağa aktaran söylencelerdir. Efsaneler geçmişle bugün arasında köprü kuran, insanın çevresinde oluşturduğu coğrafi, sosyal ve kültürel yapının anlaşılmasına katkıda bulunan araçlardandır. Fen ve sosyal bilimlere konu olan, insan hayatını şekillendiren fiziki ve beşeri coğrafi unsurlar efsanelere de ilham kaynağı olmuşlardır. Eğitim sürecinin önemli unsurlarından bir tanesi ise öğretim programlarıdır. Öğretim programları, yaşamda ihtiyaç duyulabilecek bilgi ve becerileri öngörerek, bu bilgi ve becerileri belirli zaman dilimlerinde öğrencilere kazandırmayı hedefler. Aynı zamanda öğretim programları ders kitaplarının şekillenmesinde yol gösterici materyallerdir. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada 2015 yılı Sosyal Bilgiler dersi öğretim programı üzerinde araştırma yapılmıştır. Çalışmada 2015 yılı Sosyal Bilgiler dersi öğretim programı incelenmiş ve bu programda geçen sözlü edebiyat ürünlerinden efsanelerin kullanım durumlarına yönelik betimsel bir analiz çalışması yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın en önemli bulgusu olarak destan ve masallara yer verilmesine rağmen 2015 yılı Sosyal Bilgiler dersi öğretim programında ve Sosyal Bilgiler derslerinde efsane kullanımının yeterli düzeyde olmadığı tespit edilmiştir
