Al-Sahib Ibn Abbad’s Justification for Muʽtazila's Principle of Justice

Abstract

Al-Sâhib Ibn Abbâd who is not only a man of literature and politics, but also an important theologian, tackled the views of the Mu'tazila sect that he was affiliated with and tried to confirm them. In this context, he examined the principle of justice, which constitutes one of the most important principles of the sect. The author, who has built this principle on the basis of understanding that no ugly action can be taken from Allah, also evaluated the issues of guidance-misguidance and offers that cannot be done. The author, who pointed out that especially the human actions were not created by Allah for the realization of this principle, which was developed to promote the freedom of the creature, has defended that an opposite thought will eliminate divine justice and wisdom altogether. The author, who maintained the same point of view in the matter of guidance and misguidance, regarded his guidance as a guide to everyone, and interpreted his misguidance as removing his servants from a position of misguidance. The author, who rejected the proposal to be made to his servants through an act that cannot be done, was also explained this by the idea that all the acts of Allah are beautiful.

Sadece edebiyat ve siyaset adamı değil, aynı zamanda önemli bir kelamcı olan Sâhib b. Abbâd, bağlı bulunduğu Muʽtezile mezhebinin görüşlerini ele almış ve onları teyit etmeye çalışmıştır. O, bu bağlamda mezhebinin en önemli ilkelerinden birini teşkil eden adalet prensibini de incelemiştir. Bu ilkeyi daha çok Allah’tan kabih bir fiilin sadır olmayacağı anlayışı üzerine bina eden müellif, ayrıca hidayet-dalalet ve güç yetirilemeyecek teklif meselelerini de değerlendirmiştir. Kulun özgürlüğünü temellendirmek adına geliştirilmiş olan bu ilkenin gerçekleşmesi için özellikle beşeri fiillerin Allah tarafından yaratılmadığına dikkat çeken müellif, aksi bir düşüncenin ilahi adalet ve hikmeti ortadan kaldıracağını savunmuştur. Hidayet ve dalalet meselesinde de aynı bakış açısını sürdüren müellif, O’nun hidayetini herkesi kapsayacak şekilde yol gösterme olarak ele almış, dalaletini ise kullarını saptıran bir konumdan uzaklaştıracak şekilde yorumlamıştır. Güç yetirilemeyen bir fiil üzerinden kullara yapılacak teklifi de kabih olduğu için reddeden müellif, bunu da yine Allah’ın bütün fiillerinin güzel olması düşüncesi ile izah etmiştir.
