Episode Structure and Motif Analysis of the Ker û Kulık Story

Abstract

Folk tale takes its name from the word folk and its subject is the events that occur among the people. This event or subject; Sometimes it can be love, sometimes heroism, sometimes tragedy. People expressed their feelings and thoughts through verbal expression. Therefore, it is possible to find all the elements and motifs belonging to the culture and identity of that people in these folk stories. There are several main methods for analyzing stories in the field of folklore. However, among these, Stith Thompson's motif method is one of the most famous and important. The Thompson method is based on identifying motifs in stories. According to him, motif is the smallest element of the story that has the feature of being permanent. Due to the importance of the motif in folk tales, the episodic context, motifs and elements of the folk tale Ker and Kulik compiled by Abdurehman Eldergöz were examined in the context of Thompson's method. In this study, parts of the story were analyzed and many important motifs were identified. It has been determined that the episodic structure of this story is parallel to classical folk tales. In addition, it has been seen that the Ker and Kulik story is very rich in terms of motifs and that many motifs in the story are common to other cultures of the world, which once again reveals the richness of the Kurdish folk story.

Halk hikâyesi, adını halk kelimesinden alır ve konusu da halk arasında yaşanan olaylardır. Bu olay veya konu; bazen bir aşk, bazen bir kahramanlık, bazen de bir trajedi olabilir. İnsanlar duygu ve düşüncelerini sözlü ifade yoluyla ifade etmişlerdir. Dolayısıyla bu halk hikâyelerinde o halkın kültürüne ve kimliğine ait tüm unsur ve motifleri bulmak mümkündür. Folklor alanında hikâyeleri analiz etmek için birkaç ana yöntem vardır. Ancak bunlar arasında Stith Thompson'ın motif yöntemi en ünlü ve önemli olanlardan biridir. Thompson yöntemi, hikâyelerde yer alan motifleri tespit etme temeline dayanır. Ona göre motif, hikâyenin kalıcı olma özelliği taşıyan en küçük unsurudur. Motifin halk hikâyelerindeki bu öneminden ötürü Abdurehman Yaşlıgöz’den derlenen Ker ile Kulik adlı halk hikâyesinin epizodik bağlamı, motif ve unsurları Thompson’un yöntemi bağlamında incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmada hikâyenin bölümleri analiz edilmiş ve birçok önemli motif tespit edilmiştir. Bu hikâyenin epizodik yapısının klasik halk hikâyeleriyle paralel olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca Ker ve Kulik hikâyesinin motif bakımından oldukça zengin olduğu hikâyedeki pek çok motifin dünyanın diğer kültürlerinde ortak olduğu da görülmüş, bu da Kürt halk hikâyesinin zenginliğini ortaya koymaktadır
