Abstract
Undoubtedly, one of the most important pillars of the literary history of any nation is the mathnawi (rhymed couplet) verse form. Especially among Muslim nations, this style has served as a vessel for various sciences; or rather, it is more accurate to say that many sciences have been woven into these poetic compositions. Epic poems also hold a high value within these verse forms. Some of them are shared across the literary histories of Muslim nations, with each nation crafting them in its own language, according to its own worldview and style. In the history of Kurdish literature, as the progenitor of the verse epic, Ehmedê Xanî's Mem û Zîn is such a sublime masterpiece and crowning achievement that, even after centuries, it remains known as the "Prince of Mathnawis" in Kurdish literature. Although this paramount work is not a mere repetition of mathnawis like "Yusuf and Zulaikha" or "Layla and Majnun," it exhibits such a perfect mastery by Xanî that from whichever perspective a reader looks, they perceive the artistry and aesthetic beauty as if seen for the first time. As Haci Qadirê Koyî states: "Xanî is the master of Mem û Zîn; he is the falcon of the celestial heights." This article is an introduction to the book Mem û Zîn by Xanî, which has been commented upon in Sorani by Mihemed Mela Mistefa Zirarî (1955–2022). This work is considered the first Sorani commentary on Mem û Zîn written in prose style.
Hacı Kadir-i Koyi'nin dediği gibi: "Hânî, Mem û Zîn'in sahibidir; yüce fezaların şahbazıdır." Bu çalışma, Ahmed-i Hânî’nin Mem û Zîn adlı eserinin Muhammed Mela Mustafa Zirarî (1955-2022) tarafından Soranice yapılan şerhinin tanıtımıdır. Bu eser, Mem û Zîn’in Soranice lehçesiyle ve nesir (düzyazı) tarzında kaleme alınmış ilk şerhi olma özelliğini taşımaktadır.
