Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether or not accounting employees face to burnout syndrome and to measure to what extend its degree if the face to the burnout syndrome. To this end, we implement a survey to accounting employees in Kayseri in order to measure the burnout syndrome and to investigate the causal relationships among the sub-groups of the burnout syndrome. Based on the data obtained from the survey, we first calculate the Maslach Burnout Syndrome Scale and then conduct the causality test. Findings indicate that the accounting employees in Kayseri face to the burnout syndrome and that the degree of the burnout syndrome is at medium scale. The causality analysis implies that while there is bi-directional causality between emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, there is no causal linkage either between personal accomplishment and emotional exhaustion or between personal accomplishment and depersonalization.
