Abstract

Objective: To determine and compare gender and age-based normative P100 latency and amplitude values in our laboratory. Material and Method: 100 healthy adults were included for the study, 75 females and 25 males. VEP pattern was applied to both eyes, separately to each one. P100 latencies and amplitudes were compared between the two eyes by gender and age. Results: The ages of the cases involved in the study were between 10,18 and 64,47 and mean age of 39,07 ± 12,57 years. Mean latency determined for females was 107,15 ± 4,56 on the right and 108,12 ± 4,6 on the left, for males was 110,2 ± 4,78 on the right and 111,76 ± 4,47 on the left. Bilateral P100 latencies were detected on males as long. The amplitude values were 9,09 ± 5,05 for females and 7,32 ± 2,48 for males. There was a significant correlation going statistically negative between amplitude measurements and age in females right eyes (r: -0.337; p 0.05). Conclusion: Females showed decreased amplitude with age while there was not found significant difference in their latencies. There was not detected difference on latency and amplitude values on males with their increasing age. Latencies in male were found to be longer compared to latencies in female. Determine community-based laboratory norms is important in evaluating and interpreting results, and revealing normal values is very valuable.

Her iki göze ayrı ayrı patern VEP uygulandı.
