Abstract

Introduction: Chronic non-spesific low back pain is the most common etiology of low back pain. Treatment approaches consist of conservative treatments such as physical therapy modalities, drug therapies, exercise, yoga or manual therapy techniques and interventional approaches such as acupuncture, dry needling, neural therapy or epidural steroid injections. The aim of the study is to reveal the effectiveness of acupuncture versus stabilization exercises on chronic non-spesific low back pain. Material and Method: This retrospective study includes 30 patients ages between 25-60 years, that admitted Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, outpatient clinic of physical medicine and rehabilitation in January –December 2019. Patients suffered from chronic low back pain more than 6 months and diagnosed as non-spesific low back pain after magnetic resonance imaging. Acupuncture group received one-hour sessions of acupuncture lasted for six weeks, twice per week. Stabilization exercise group applied the exercises 4-5 days a week in accordance with the exercise prescription for 1 month after the therapist training. Patients evaluated before and after the end of the therapies with visual analog scale (VAS) and oswestry disability index (ODI).
