Cupressus sempervirens var. pyramidalis which is considered in the context of this study can be easily distinguished from almost all the plants around it, both with its ecological and morphological features. It can define more than one image component in the landscape it is in, and it has the potential to strengthen the imageability feature of the component that it defines. Özet
Bitkiler çevre kalitesinin iyileştirilmesi üzerine oynadıkları rolün yanı sıra mekanın algılanmasında ve bellek oluşturmada imgesel bir faktör olabilmektedir. Bu çalışma bağlamında ele alınan Cupressus sempervirens var. Pyramidalis hem ekolojik hem de morfolojik özellikleriyle çevresindeki neredeyse tüm bitkilerden kolaylıkla ayırt edilebilmektedir. Bu araştırmada bu bitkinin mekânsal imge bileşeni olarak kullanımındaki rolü ortaya konmuştur. Bulunduğu peyzaj içerisinde birden çok imge bileşenini tanımlayabildiği gibi, tanımladığı bileşenin imgelenebilirlik özelliğini güçlendirme potansiyeline sahiptir. Geçmişten günümüze süre gelen kullanım şekli devam ettirilerek, özellikle bir imge bileşeni olarak Akdenizli kimliğinin vurgulanmak istenildiği yerlerde kullanımı arttırılmalıdır.
