Abstract

Measuring the safety attitudes of the employees in railway transportation, which is seen as the transportation mode of the future, is important both in determining the areas that need improvement and in producing a strategy and policy regarding safety. In this cross-sectional study, it is aimed to develop a valid and reliable conceptual form in order to evaluate the attitudes of train drivers, who are important actors in ensuring safety in railway transportation, towards safety culture. For this purpose, the tools used by the institutions in the literature and the authorities in the sector were researched, an 80-item item pool was created, and 25 items were removed from the pool in line with the recommendations of academicians and practitioners who are experts in the field of safety. Thus, a 55-item draft form was obtained in accordance with the scale development criteria. The draft form created was applied to a total of 250 train drivers working at TCDD Transport Inc. The KMO test value, which was made to determine the suitability of the data set obtained after the application for factor analysis; It was determined as .929. In addition, the total variance rate explained by the measurement tool is 72,579%. The content validity of the measurement tool was tried to be ensured by taking the opinions of 10 people consisting of academicians and experts in the sector. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, it was seen that the measurement tool was grouped under 5 factors consisting of 32 items. These factors are respectively “Efficiency in reporting”, “Collaboration and Voluntary Participation”, “Individual Responsibility”, “Procedural Leadership” and “Managers Support”. Confirmatory factor analyzes were performed to test the construct validity of the scale. The sample size for confirmatory factor analysis is 652. The obtained values showed that the scale was valid and reliable.

Özet

Geleceğin ulaşım modu olarak görülen demiryolu taşımacılığında çalışanların emniyete dair tutumlarını ölçmek, gerek konuya yönelik iyileştirilmesi gereken alanların belirlenmesi, gerekse de emniyete dair strateji ve politika üretme noktasında önemlidir. Bu kesitsel çalışmada demiryolu taşımacılığında emniyetin sağlanması noktasında önemli aktörler olan tren makinistlerinin, emniyet kültürüne yönelik tutumlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla geçerli ve güvenilir bir kavramsal form geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaca binaen literatürdeki ve sektörde otorite konumdaki kurumların kullandıkları araçlar araştırılmış 80 maddelik bir madde havuzu oluşturulmuş, 25 madde emniyet konusunda uzman akademisyen ve uygulayıcıların önerileri doğrultusundan havuzdan çıkarılmıştır. Böylelikle ölçek geliştirme kriterlerine uygun olarak 55 maddeli taslak form elde edilmiştir. Oluşturulan taslak form TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş.’de görev yapmakta toplamda 250 tren makinistine uygulanmıştır.
