Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the attitudes of social studies teacher candidates towards disasters. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing scanning and causal-comparative models. The population of the study consisted of Social Studies teacher candidates enrolled at İnönü University during the 2021-2022 academic year. The sample of the research was composed of 201 teacher candidates, including 144 females and 57 males. The researchers employed a stratified random sampling method to determine the sample for the study. Accordingly, Social Studies teacher candidates from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades at İnönü University were randomly selected at a certain rate from each grade level. The data for the study were collected using the "Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral Attitude Scale of University Students Towards Disasters" developed by Türkan & Kılıç (2017). Statistical analysis of the data included the application of independent-samples T-Test, one-way ANOVA, and descriptive statistical tests. The SPSS 24.0 software package was used for data analysis. Upon evaluation of the research findings, it was revealed that the social studies teacher candidates exhibited generally high level of attitude towards disasters.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının afetlere yönelik tutum düzeylerini incelemektir. Nicel bir yöntemin izlendiği araştırmada, tarama ve nedensel karşılaştırma modelleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında İnönü Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmen adayları oluştururken, evren içerisinde yer alan 144 kadın ve 57 erkek olmak üzere toplam 201 öğretmen adayı ise araştırmanın örneklemi olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi belirlenirken tabakalı seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında İnönü Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören 1., 2., 3. ve 4. sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmen adayları, her sınıf kademesinde belirli oranda seçkisiz olarak araştırmanın kapsamına alınmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, Türkan ve Kılıç (2017) tarafından geliştirilen “Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Bilişsel, Duyuşsal ve Davranışsal Boyutta Afetlere Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde, “Bağımsız Gruplar T (Independent-Samples T)”, “Tek Yönlü ANOVA (One-Way ANOVA)” ve betimsel istatistiki testler uygulanmış ve bu kapsamda SPSS 24.0 yazılım paket programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçları değerlendirildiğinde ise Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının afetlere yönelik tutum düzeylerinin genel anlamda yüksek olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.
