Abstract

As the global climate continues to change at an alarming rate, countries worldwide are grappling with the multifaceted challenges posed by this phenomenon. This paper aims to provide an analysis of Turkey's ongoing adaptation processes to climate change. Turkey, situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change due to its diverse geography and climate patterns. This paper begins by presenting a detailed overview of the current and projected climate change scenarios in Turkey, highlighting the key drivers and regional variations. It delves into the observed and potential impacts of climate change on various sectors, including agriculture, water resources, ecosystems, and human health, shedding light on the socio-economic repercussions. Furthermore, this paper examines Turkey's efforts to adapt to the challenges of climate change. The study also evaluates the effectiveness and implementation challenges of these measures, considering the country's unique socio-economic and environmental context. Finally, this paper provides recommendations to enhance Turkey's climate change adaptation processes. These recommendations encompass strengthening policy coherence, promoting sustainable land and water management practices, and fostering climate-conscious public awareness and engagement.
